Frequently Asked Questions

How does the fragrance recommendation system work?

Our recommendation system uses a combination of your scent preferences, favorite notes, and personality traits to suggest fragrances that match your unique profile. We analyze thousands of fragrances and their compositions to find the perfect matches for you.

What are fragrance notes?

Fragrance notes are the individual scent elements that make up a perfume or cologne. They're typically categorized into three layers:

  • Top notes: The initial scents you smell that typically last 15-30 minutes
  • Middle (heart) notes: The main body of the fragrance that emerges after the top notes fade
  • Base notes: The foundation of the fragrance that lasts the longest and gives the perfume its depth

How do I save fragrances to my collection?

Once you've received recommendations, you can save any fragrance to your collection by clicking the "Add to Collection" button. You'll need to be logged in to use this feature. Your collection is accessible from your profile page at any time.

What's the difference between Eau de Parfum, Eau de Toilette, and other concentrations?

These terms refer to the concentration of fragrance oils in the product, which affects how strong and long-lasting the scent is:

  • Parfum/Perfume: 20-30% concentration, lasts 6-8 hours
  • Eau de Parfum (EDP): 15-20% concentration, lasts 5-6 hours
  • Eau de Toilette (EDT): 5-15% concentration, lasts 3-4 hours
  • Eau de Cologne (EDC): 2-4% concentration, lasts 2-3 hours
  • Eau Fraiche: 1-3% concentration, lasts 1-2 hours

How should I apply fragrance for the best effect?

For the best results, apply fragrance to your pulse points - areas where blood vessels are close to the skin. These include:

  • Wrists
  • Neck
  • Behind the ears
  • Inside elbows
  • Behind knees

The heat from these areas helps to diffuse the fragrance. Avoid rubbing your wrists together after application as this can break down the fragrance molecules.

Why does the same fragrance smell different on different people?

Fragrances interact with your unique body chemistry, which is influenced by factors like:

  • Skin pH level
  • Diet
  • Hormone levels
  • Medication
  • Body temperature

This is why a fragrance might smell wonderful on one person but different on another. It's always best to test a fragrance on your own skin before purchasing.

How should I store my fragrances?

To preserve your fragrances for as long as possible:

  • Keep them in a cool, dry place
  • Avoid direct sunlight
  • Keep them away from heat sources
  • Store them in their original bottles with caps tightly closed
  • Avoid bathroom storage (humidity and temperature fluctuations can degrade the fragrance)
